BEVERLY GUITAR ACADEMY
Guitar and bass classes for kids, teens, and families on Chicago’s Southwest Side. We focus on musicianship—note reading, rhythm, chords, songs, ensemble playing, and creative skills—in a friendly, supportive environment.
Classes begin February 2nd
MUSICIANSHIP FIRST: MUSIC AS A LANGUAGE.
Musicianship means understanding music as something you do—not just something you read on a page.
Before kids read words, they listen, copy sounds, recognize patterns, and learn to communicate. Music works the same way.
At Beverly Guitar Academy, we teach music the way children learn a language.
Musicianship includes
KEEPING A STEADY BEAT
RECOGNIZING PATTERNS
PLAYING IN TIME WITH OTHERS
UNDERSTANDING SONG STRUCTURE
LISTENING AND RESPONDING MUSICALLY
EXPRESSING IDEAS THROUGH SOUND
Group Classes First
Although private lessons are available, we strongly encourage group classes. Group learning is the fastest and most enjoyable way for young musicians to build core skills. Students will play together every week, develop strong rhythm and timing, learn to listen and adjust, and build confidence at the same time. This not only helps students with private lessons later, but makes them feel like musicians from the very start.
Group classes are held at the Beverly Unitarian Church, located at 103rd and Longwood, four days a week.
